Whidbey Island Sunset Engagement Photographs | Robyn + Rob at Ebey’s Bluff

They met co-coaching a basketball team in which their kids participated and became fast friends. As the sun set on Ebey’s bluff, Rob told us how he and Robyn used to walk the same path before their started dating, sharing stories of from their lives and talking about the challenges of being single parents. Now, they look out over the same vista, holding hands, and I can tell that he feels like the luckiest man in the world. Robyn faces the field where they’ll get married, above the Puget Sound and opposite the Olympic Mountain Range, and tells us of their plans to combine their two families into one big cabal of nine, Brady-bunch style. She is beaming and beautiful, more excited than her daughter who has just come from prom the night before.

We are so lucky to be photographing this special celebration in less than a month’s time. With so many kids in the mix, it won’t just be a wedding of two souls, but the evolution of a whole family. Enjoy this little selection of photographs from our trip to Whidbey Island where Rob and Robyn live, love, and will be wed!

Spring Green Lake Engagement with Cherry Blossoms | Jessie + Ben

I got a call from Jessie while I was at the dog park by Green Lake with Corwin. Over the course of our conversation, I learned that she frequents the same park with her dog, Luckie, but that we just hadn’t had the pleasure of meeting yet. The next morning, I was back at Green Lake bright and early with Jessie and her fiance Ben for a wonderful Spring engagement session full of sunshine and cherry blossoms.

These two (who, it turns out, are also our neighbors!) are so cute it makes my heart sing. They met in college playing hacky-sac in the Autumn leaves and fell for each other hunting for the hacky-sac after it disappeared. It turned out to be hidden in the hem of her duster jacket. They share a love of the great outdoors and were delighted with the proliferation of spring blossoms that greeted us during our engagement session together.

Jessie and Ben are planning a Haunted Mansion, Victorian steampunk-esque wedding this summer in New Mexico, which we (sadly) won’t be there to photograph… but that sounds like an absolutely amazing party!

As things go, now that we know we’re neighbors and frequent the same dog park, it’s as if we’re somehow suddenly “visible” to each other. Just yesterday, Justin and I saw Jessie at the park with Luckie. I’m sure it will be the first of many times! Thank you two for sharing your beautiful love on such a beautiful morning with me.

Discovery Park Engagement Photography | Laura + David

Laura and David lucked out with the amazing sunshine you see in these photos. We’d set up their original engagement session in mid-February but just kept getting dumped on by horrid weather. Finally, after so much flip-flopping sun and rain, we played it by ear and got this GORGEOUS day still smack in the middle of Winter. They were somewhat smug about this fact because they’d planned to design their Save the Dates with photographs from their session. Now their out-of-town wedding guests can’t say that Seattle has terrible weather a full half of the year! (Though now here we are, after three days of amazing sun, looking a nice downpour…) Anyhow, look what I made for them!

I have to chuckle a bit because those were literally the LAST two photos we took, on the way back to the parking lot, as a sort of afterthought. “Oh, stand here, this will be cute!” It was almost dark by that time, and we were getting cold without the magic sun to warm us, but the photos were perfect!

For the rest of the sunshiny images, keep on scrolling. Laura and David, with your gorgeous smiles, amazing sense of fashion and design, and impeccable taste in food and wine, we know your wedding will be one to remember. We’re looking forward to being there, and getting to know you along the way!

Heirloom Engagement Album | Karen + Chris

We made this beautiful Heirloom Album of images from Karen and Chris’s Seattle Center engagement session so that they could share the book with guests at their wedding last October. Since we’ll be posting their wedding photographs this week, we thought this would be a perfect prelude. And it’s the best way (besides in-person) to show off our beautiful Heirloom Albums by Cypress Fine Handmade Albums & Boxes. We’re currently offering the “Whistler Book” as our Heirloom Album for weddings and engagements and the “Cypress Album” as our Deluxe Heirloom Album for weddings. We’re also proud to say that all Cypress albums are cruelty-free (no leather here!) and eco-friendly (cotton and wind-power-generated papers), handmade with archival, museum-quality materials for a beautiful book that will last for generations.

Karen and Chris’s Heirloom Album of engagement photographs is sized 8×8″ and made with lay-flat photographic pages, an exclusive vintage linen fabric, custom inset cover-image, and personalized embossing. “Weddy… Set… Go!” was their wedding slogan. How cute is that?
