Isabella | Golden Retriever Pup Portraits

This is Isabella… Bella, for short. She’s still a wee pup, less than a year old and full of energy. The funny thing is, you’d think she was the chillest dog on the planet by these photos. We waited for her to cool down from a long day of spazzing about before taking her picture. Aside from a few rousing bouts of tug of war, she was cool as a cucumber. In fact, you’d think that no one was paying attention to her at all (quite to the contrary of reality) by how sad she made herself look in a few shots. I think Cute Overload calls those “Princess Di eyes.”

She has a sweet personality, like most Goldens. I think she’ll make a lovely companion for her family, who recently lost the Golden Retriever who had been with them for many years. Their house is still full of photos of him, and I can tell they will be very, very good to Bella. She’s a lucky girl!

Tamara - I love puppies! I have 2 golden retrievers and they’re so much fun to photograph.

Justin Speyer - I absolutely love the last image…it was really hard to get with a puppy that young (her inclination was to run forward and lick the lens while we were at eye level…)

Joey Nicole - These are adorable!! Goldens are especially friendly. I think everyone needs great photos like these of their dogs – nicely done :)

Tasha - I grew up raising Goldens and am so jealous. Since I moved away and got married, I’ve been begging for a puppy. My son is very good at looking Daddy and saying “Puppy?” and it’s adorable. Eventually that will wear him down.

I think these pictures are cute. I like the different angle of showing the puppy’s paw.

Lake Washington Wedding Rehearsal Dinner | Catherine + Micah

On a steamy day in August, Catherine and Micah finished the preparations for their wedding. A fellow Wedding Bee blogger (Mrs. Joey), Catherine had spent months crafting DIY projects for their gorgeous grey-and-yellow-themed celebration and sharing the details with the world. Now that everything was ready, it was time to relax and party with family!

Catherine & Micah held their rehearsal dinner at a beautiful private home on a quiet inlet of Lake Washington. Sipping drinks and making toasts, the guests lounged poolside until dinner, provided by Lake Street Catering, was served. As the sun set and the air cooled, everyone was bathed in the gorgeous pink light you only see in late summer on the lakeshore. Of course, a summer evening wouldn’t be complete without ice cream… and nothing but the best: the locally renowned Molly Moon’s in three flavors (including salted caramel!). The kids (and, um, adults) loved it!

The pleasant buzz of conversation floated around us like a warm breeze, until night fell and the bride and groom retired for their beauty sleep. Details from their lovely wedding will be coming soon!

Tasha - I love the shots of the little boy! He’s so stinking cute! And his eyes just jump out at you. The candidness of the images is so nice, you get real laughter and smiles. I love the lakescape and the vibrancy of the colors is gorgeous!

A little color change…

Last night I was thinking about branding and wedding industry “psychographics” (i.e. the colors and shapes people respond to within a certain target market). A little brainstorming led me to try some new colors out on the blog. What do you think?

The the orange/green color scheme I had previously posted (see below) was cheerful, bold, and contemporary. But something about it didn’t quite seem to fit the “feeling” I was going for. So, I decided to try blue, which is a cooler tone, but also provides a nice contrast to orange. In this case, I feel like the blue is also cheerful, but more sophisticated, and seems to bring the photos more off the page. For some reason – and I say this without concrete research to back it up – I feel like blue fits more into the wedding “psychographic.” But, again, I don’t really know.

I’m not tied to either color combination 100% at this point. I would love to know what you all think.

Please, help me decide! Blue, or green?

blog-colors

jesslehry - oooooh I like the blue, but i think I’m partial to the green. :)

Zoe - BLUE! I really like the blue and orange combo

Kristin - I like the blue! I think it compliments your orange really well! : )

allie - greengreengreen

Rachel - Blue!

brooke @ claremont road - Hmmm, I like the blue better, but I think the green works better with your logo. Perhaps that can be modified by making the green leaf in your logo a bit more blue-green?

Amy I. - I’m on Team Blue!

Amber - I really like the Blue.

Kat - I’m getting blue votes here, and I got several for green on Twitter. It’s still a tie, oh nooooooo. (I’m leaning toward blue personally, maybe with a slightly bluer tint to the persimmon leaves.)

kim hayes - blue all the way!! I’m going through a color change myself, it’s so hard to decide!

Tamara - They both look great, but I’m personally more of a green fan. I think you might be right about the wedding crowd though. Blue seems more elegant. It just depends on the type of customer you want.

Catie Ronquillo - LOVE the blue. I really like the change. :)

Kathryn Speyer - Thanks for the continuing feedback, guys!

Ink & Intimacy | Kyle’s Seattle Boudoir Photographs

Last month, Kyle helped me break in my brand new boudoir studio and test my studio lighting. We played around with poses on the big brass bed and along the studio walls. I wanted to show off Kyle’s cuteness, her sultry side, and her badass tattoos. I think we really succeeded!

Kyle brought some sexy heels and a few fabulous outfits and really rocked the studio. I’m seriously thankful for her help testing my studio setup and for letting me use her gorgeous likeness in my portfolio. Check out a few of Kyle’s images below…

Enjoy!
